Touching People

What do you think about this project and photo essay?
I think this essay is very different from what an average/normal photographer would do. It has a good feel to the photos, seeing strangers come together.

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?
I would first be a little confused of what is happening and the first few seconds would probably be awkward. But I would participate and take the picture because it's a cool idea for photos.

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.
Possibly, a similar shoot with strangers you could do is take people out of their comfort zone where they live. For example, it a person lives in a rich suburb area, they can take them to a place where it isn't ass wealthy and is known for people committing crimes and being in gangs. Just to see how they would react in an environment they are not used to.

4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?
I think the photography was pretty creative and different, which makes it better. It's a cool idea to go around and have 2 complete strangers that have never met before come together to take a picture.

WINNER
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it? How the photograper seemed to be right in the action of things. Also, the creativity of the photos and how things were placed.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? I see a strength in, also, how close it seems the photographer is to the action. It makes it seem like he was right there when it happened. A weaknesses i noticed was on one of them, too much effect in Photoshop was added and made the picture look a little odd.

RECAP
Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner. They went through each portfolio and were looking for how well the feel of the photos were, also if the portfolio had no bad photos. The judges also noted that they see how well the photographer edits the photos.

INDIVIDUAL IMAGES
1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it. I like the photo with the baseball player warming up to bat in a game and how the sky is all cloudy and orange. The rainbow makes the photo look really cool. And I agree what the judges said, they just input that it was a good picture.

2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong. The photo where the girl soccer player is in the air, I disagree what the judges say because the said the car in the background ruined the photo. I don't believe that the whole photo is ruined just because the car. I actually like the picture.

WARM UP 3/19

When I look at this photo it gives me a stunned feeling, knowing that
what was once a town and city that people lived in every day and lived a normal life,
is now gone and they are all left with nothing. The photographer did a good job
of using the rule of thirds to show the start of the fire and black smoke.

I was amazed when i saw this photo, to see a giant boat just
thrown onto a building shows how powerful the earthquake was and
how the people lost everything in their town. The photographer used a
good composition to really show the boat in it's position.

I saw this photo and it made me feel bad for the people who
had lived in this neighborhood. Seeing that their homes they went
to everyday was taken away from them because of one earthquake. I feel
the photographer did a good job on really showing how destructive the earthquake
was. Also, how it ruined peoples homes and businesses.
